SMOKING ENGINE !!

Post by higgyt25 »

Hi everyone,

I have a 1600 diesel in my B reg T25, having recently had a few teething problems, I changed the starter motor, glow plugs and gave her an oil change, not knowing when the cambelt was done I've just had that changed too, since then she's started smoking not only on start up but while she's running which I'm pretty sure she wasn't doing before, I was wondering if this is just a coincidence and the engine is poorly or the cambelt hasn't been fitted correctly ??

Any advice greatly appreciated

Ian

Sorry can't help but just want to clarify, do you mean out the exhaust?

Mine smoked out the sides till i fixed the pushrod tubes :)

Is it running fine apart from that? A cam one tooth out makes a poor run if at all..

yes more than likely timing, if its black its generally fuel related.

By the way what colour is the smoke??

White though generally means head gasket sorry

white smoke is also a sign of unburnt fuel,, which can be caused by pump timing being slightly out. check the settings as per your manual and make sure they're exactly right
