12V ciggy W-proof socket & plug

Some might want such a thing.. for external (Doka) socket for fridge or tyre pump/compressor feed

They sell them single plugs/single sockets; plug + socket; 3 plugs; 3 sockets (they compound postage too)

basically a m/cycle lecy accessories eBay shop, lots of other goodies incl. self amalgamating tape. w-proof fuseholders etc.

i note with interest that they do not give it a power rating tho...... i would think a plug in fridge would be very close or over it limit unless you are using the twist and lock plug supplied......

Think they're 10A and yes, best used with their own twist plugs

Fridge 8.3A, so we'll see!

Exterior fridge just melted a 16A 'Universal' plug and Ciggy socket, but prob got knocked badly or wet or both
(becuase lasted 2 years OK)

Anyone using these Universal plugs in a DIN socket, or converted to DINS throughout ?

those universal ones are crap clive, 5amp max, no matter what they say.
the "hella" (small) part of it is a adaptor, proper "hella" plugs have a connection all the way round, not just two pins like that. loose connection equals heat, just the same as a dirty connection equals heat.

The fridge came with one of those Universal ones though, fuseless... as I say it lasted 2 years or so and all around France last year

I have just converted over to Dins in the leisure area but still have the conventional ciggy lighter on the dash. The dedicated DIN plug (not a multi type!) are far superior in my experience. The convetional ciggy type plugs with 10A 20mm insert fuses generate heat when current draw is around 8amps or above, the the shroud begins to distort and eventually break up. The Din type are usually unfused, better fit and smaller anyway so dont fall out. I want a twist and lock type for the sat nav but will need to check if the standard one supplied has a regulator built in to the supplied ciggy type plug.
