couple of Westy questions...

Post by purplecrocs »

hi, new owner, a couple of questions...

1. Having real trouble getting the pop top down - just the last little bit, I can't get the lock to locate and click in as if its either slightly out of alignment or else I can't pull it down quite far enough... managed to get it closed yesterday with someone pushing from the outside but thats not going to be good if I'm out by myself... any tips, adjustments I can make?

2. The external gas feed of the tank, theres a little yellow plastic end on mine, does this pull of or unscrew? Couldn't be sure and didn't want to force anything...!

Thanks

1. when lowering the pop top pull the bar towards you and step forward to let the roof rest on your head (if you are tall enough) - then at both front corners gather the canvas and roll it upwards and away from you whilst pushing out diagonally with both arms. this should get the canvas under the roof for the most part. then on each side just check that the canvas is inside the roof on both sides by grabbing it and pulling just in front of the folded bed. once you have checked that the canvas is not fouling any of the hinges/ supports you should then be able to pull down the roof to the click.

2. mines a pull off but then mine is orange!

Hi
welcome to the westie end of the forum

1. As above really i make sure the canvas is clear of the sides and the front. To my knowledge the frame is not adjusted so make sure there is nothing jamming or sticking . The last couple of inches is meant to be difficult ( isnt it always lol).

2. The end of mine is red and just pulls off (behind which is a fitting for external gas powered things.

1) As above, but I need to quite forcefully bring it down the last foot or so and shunt it leftwards a few cm :)

thanks, worked out the knack now... as per Shark, the last few inches need to be done swiftly and forcefully!

Hi
the door (or window) open thing is major important. Lower without and you may blow your windows out (slight but only slight exageration) . Try and open without and you and whos army wont be strong enough to lift it no exageration .....
