please could someone tell me which way they go on, for cast lower arms..cranked forward or backwards to the arm?

hold it in your hand with the loop at the top.
The thread should kink forwards and inwards.

If the thread goes to the left, its the right hand side.
if the thread goes to the right it's the left hand side.
