rock and roll bed and bulkhead

Post by Lamby »

Hi, I have just fitted a bluebird rock and roll bed in my panel van. The van has been boarded out in some thick ply which means when the rock and roll is in its bed position it sits well high of the bulk head. has anyone got any ideas (pics would be good) on what to do over the engine, there is thick ply there too with a cut away for engine access.Thought about building a box with a lid, though I am not sure if this would make it difficult to get to the engine.

I would appreciate some help on this one, this is my 1st T25, had a bay camper before and never had to deal this kind of stuff.

Thanks in advance

Lamby

My R&R bed is a just kampers one and when in the bed posistion it sits about 5" higher than the rear load area so Jk have a rear box section with a hatch for the engine which is attached to the rear load area thus bring it up to the level of the bed...Quite useful as it allows extra storage. :ok Mark

build a box with a lid that slides out. if its made full width and length it wont move unless you open the tailgate and pull it out backwards. i've seen this done in many busses

I have have the drawer under the foam but remove it during the winter and use another section of foam as this keeps the bed warmer, its also far more comfortable so well worth having the choice of using either method to raise the rear cushion if you like winter camping.
