225x75x16 Too big?

Post by beelzibus »

I've been offered some Merc ML rims, I'm guessing that they're too big for my 14" Syncro, would I be right?

Quite a few vans running those rims but the suspension is jacked up and with some body mods done around the arches. I personally think anything over 28" is nuts and you'd be 29"+.

But thats only my humble opinion .....

I run Merc ML,s but with 225/70 16 tyres,approx 10% bigger than standard, 721mm, or 28.39" in old money,and has been lifted a tad :)

Thanks for all your comments, I've just this morning picked up some 15" steel rims, 6.5J with an ET of 37, they clear fine on the front, so assume they will on the back, just need to look at suitable tyres for them, the fancy ML rims that I'd like looks wise will have to wait until my bank balance has recovered a bit.

Get some 215/75/15 BFGs. They will look good and do wonders for your overall gearing

Well 235/75/15 fit without having to modify wheels arches or cut trailing arms. these are 73.3cms tall and leave about 5mm clearance at the rear trailing arms. Approx 73.7 cms for the 225/75/16 so not much difference between the two in height.

With 235 75 15's or 225 70 16's you will catch your front wheel arch on a standard 14.

I think it all comes down to the size of stone you want to trap between tyre and trailing arm.
