Did it take you less than a week to get home ? ... Then it's definately NOT a diesel

Could you hear where the engine was ? ... If so it's either a quick diesel OR it's Aircooled

Did you find a 5 gallon barrel of coolant in the back ? .... If so it's a waterboxer

Did you find a breakdown company's card in the sunvisor ? Or the Samaritan's phone number ? ... Definately a T25 then

Have fun and look at the engine number on the V5 ... DF DG DJ are petrol WBX's CU,CT Aircooled petrols, JX, AAZ or 1Y are diesels

Take care, Ian. :ok

There's also info and photos in the Wiki which might help you (e.g. where to find engine code on your engine)

Technical Questions checklist FAQ. SAY WHICH ENGINE YOU HAVE

Oh, maybe I should have been more specific in my posting.
What I actually meant in order to comply with the moderator's request to "SAY WHICH ENGINE YOU HAVE" when posting on the technical forum was
is there anywhere either on the van (engine or bodyshell) or van's paperwork (i.e. V5) that would tell me the type of engine.
Thanks IanHulley for the last line of your posting which answers this.
No thanks KevtheRev. How would I know whether it's on the M plate if I don't even know all the engine codes that are valid?
I just need some info from those with the knowledge but if you want to have a laugh along the way, just go ahead.

Anyway, the van is a 2.1 watercooled 1989, Krankenwagen, Dehler hightop (or medium top), I think 112 PS.
I'll look on the V5.

if you pull the number plate hatch open and have a peep inside you will see a black oil breather tower , where this meets the engine block will be the engine number , you may need to wipe crud off to see it , it will start either DJ , MV if its the 2.1
