Hi folks
I recently bought a 1981 2.0 Aircooled camper, however I bought it with the engine removed and striped and apparently all ready to be put back together with new big end bearings, Engel camshaft and followers and all packed neatly away in a range of boxes, biscuit tins and wrapped up rags. So it goes without saying that everytime I try to proceed with the build I tend to find something missing or at fault ie:
1. The engineering firm who apparently checked everything over apparently missed the camshaft bearing that was destroyed, this wasn't a problem as I couldn't see why I wouldn't replace them with the engine striped down anyway.
2. The spacer that should be between the camshaft and distributer gears was put on after the distributer gear.
3. All the gudgeon pin circlips were missing.
4. One of the main bearing dowels was missing.
Regardless I've carried on and sourced the part one way or another ( VW,Just Kampers,Heritage) but the one part that has remained elusive is what my Haynes manual calls an "oil thrower ring" which goes on the end of the crankshaft, does anybody know where I could get one or do you have a scrap engine or the part lounging around your garage, I will happily buy it from you.
Thanks for taking the time to read this and any help would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers Craig
