Evening all,
rebuilding my 1.9 DG and ive got it down to the short block but cant split it.... It is seperated all the way round from the rear of the flywheel (front) all the way round the back and back to front. BUT not across the flywheel face (front). Tried all sorts of things with no luck. (the flywheel etc is off)
Everything that Mr Haynes says to take off is off and i cant see anything else....
Anyone got any advice before i run it down to local garage and spend some off my hard earnt pennies getting it split??
Thanks
splitting crankcase

bit difficult to follow that.It is seperated all the way round from the rear of the flywheel (front) all the way round the back and back to front. BUT not across the flywheel face (front)
so you can see a gap all the way round?
are the liners out?
the flywheel is at the rear.. on the front is the crank pully
it should fall apart..if all the bolts are out .. +liners and pistons

Re: splitting crankcase
yeh everything Mr haynes says is off and hunky dorey... but along the face where the flywheel would normally be the case wont split. The other bits are fine and there is a gap i can open up.

the flywheel end is a bearing
rubber mallet and keep belting it

Re: splitting crankcase
Be ABSOLUTELY sure theres not one nut/bolt you've overlooked. Done that myself. You may be able to pry case partly open at flywheel end of the case, which might, just might, reveal one you've missed or simply open it up but go gently if doing so.

Go and check the case agian for a bolt you have missed... it shouldnt need so much brute force...
