AAZ smoking under load

Post by Al Housman »

I've managed my JX to AAZ swap and the engine runs really well.MOTd today and very low emissions but when loaded up (it's in a crewcab syncro and I deliver firewood in it) and revving uphill it seems to smoke more than I'm comfortable with. Is it possible that the turbo is responsible- I've used the JX one and there is some oil seeping down it on idle.Any adjustments I should try before I spend even more money I haven't got on a new/recon unit?

Many thanks

White.Does disappear after a few miles but it does attract attention initially! Like I said the MOT test was great but I have notice oil around the turbo and the pipe from that to the inlet manifold. Is it possible that there is a build up in the turbo which is well used and this clears once the oil is flowing well or things have warmed up enough to seal it?

It could be that your timing is slightly out. Mine had a little period when i would get a bit of white smoke under load and adjustment of timing sorted that out.

Check you coolant tank to make sure theres no signs of oil in you water. If youve got gunky stuff in there and/or pressure building up after a run then your head gasket could on its way out.
