50mm front 40mm back lowered, woah the fronts v low!
hi all, l bought a lowering kit (ebay from germany) 40mm back and 50mm front and stupidly fitted them the night before my camping holiday (4.00pm - 1.00am)yep l was knackerd the nextday but worst then that the front was so low it was undriveable my empi5 15's were catching the arch's,so l went to a camping and caravan shop and bought something's called spring assisters that sit in the coil and stop it compressing so much, anyway it worked enough for me to travel about,l must say on the motorway it felt like a sportscar really smooth and corners like a gocart and look's the dog's bollox but l was a nervous wreck dodging pothole's like my life depended on it,the passenger side is slightly lower then the drivers which l think may be down to the rubber plate that sits on top of the spring a bit knackerd (anyone know where they can be bought?)the other thing is doing the nylock nut up that sit's on the rubber and steel washer at the top of the shock is a bit hit and miss can someone enlighten me on what's the proper procedure please?

Your problems are probably down to your wheels more than anything.
EMPI 5's are the wrong offset for a T3, they were designed for Type 1's, then used on Type 2 bays.
In laymans terms they are too "sticky outy" and won't be doing your bearings any good.

I used a pair of adjustable pliers to pull the shock piston all the way through and then hold it tight while I did up the nut with a ratchet spanner.
Good luck!

had my bus lowered with empi 5,s. with the correct size tyres fitted they dammaged the arch. also worth knowing is the uneven tyre wear that can give problems under heavy braking, worth also getting the camber and tracking done, as again it could end in tears if you need to use brakes heavily. problems are that there are not many suitable wheels you can buy new for a t3 and a lot of "campervan dealers" will tell you that the wheels they sell are fine :evil:when they are not. i also have seen that they are now rebranding some of these wheels as being "more suitable" for a lowered vehicle BUT THE OFFSET IS STILL WRONG
