Suspension

Post by el sketcho »

I got some -50mm avo springs from brickwerks and fitted them the other day, the van now drives a lot better. I can go over potholes and bumps alot more comfortably now. I had some just kamper -60 springs on it before, which had sagged. I loved the look of it but it wasn't practical for driving across campsites.
For some reason now the a*** end looks lower than the front, a friend of mine says I need the rubber doughnuts that go on the rear. Does anyone know what they are called and where I can get some?
Also it's still leaning so it looks like I'll have to get the levelling kit from brickwerks as well.

He could mean rubber spacers like I had on the rear of my van; they are cut from conveyor belting or something similar, same diameter as the spring base with a hole in the middle for muck clearance. They were acting as shims to level up the rear. Replaced the springs and shims weren't needed anymore! I could be talking bullocks though!! :D

Should be some rubber "isolators" on the top of the rear springs.. even with lowered springs...

The ones that I mentioned were home-made. Get some conveyor belting and DIY. I can give you the approximate dimensions.

Managed to get some from VW, should be with me on thursday then I've gotta try and fit them before next tuesday when I go off to bestival. The brickwerks leveling shims'll have to wait till I get back.
