door window seals

Post by purplecrocs »

Where would I go about getting replacements for the black rubber seals that go around the windows on the driver and passenger doors? I'm new to all this, tried just kampers but couldnt see anything there.

Also, on a slightly related note, I wound the window up the other day and then the handle just started spinning freely and not connecting with whatever mechanism its supposed to... before I start taking panels etc apart and making it worse, anyone know whether its an easy fix?!

Pull the rubber cover off the handle (not easy) from where the handle attaches to the door. This will reveal the screw holding the handle on. Undo the screw (good luck with this bit too) and remove the handle. The handle and spigot are corrigated to provide grip and if this has worn 'round' the handle won't turn the spigot. Failing that, it's off with the door card I'm afraid.............

As said above, it's quite easy, happened to me a few weeks back but I ended up taking the door card off as I thought the glass had fallen off the runners at first...........the corrugated pit on the handle had worn and actual fell out into 3 pieces. I put a piece of duct tape around them which meant I had enough to wind the window up. Thankfully it was on the passenger door so doesn't get used much. I haven;t looked into where you can get a replacement piece though, if you find out let me know.

Had a look last night, thankfully its just the handle that needs replacing, though not sure if its a standard one as it has a kind a spacer that makes it stick out of the door a bit further than the normal ones to clear door mounted speakers... so not sure where to go for that. I think we may go to vanfest now we are new geeky t25 owners and have a look there.

Dan - who do you use in Brighton for repairs/servicing etc?
