Hi, With apologies if this has been covered before but weve been looking at some of the German LHD imports for sale on various sites and was wondering how the onboard internal gas tank system works ie: how do you go about getting it filled? etc . And are there any other problems over and above the obvious for using a LHD as a daily driver in the UK? (Just looking at the moment but may upgrade from our 1985 Devon) Many thanks Ruby

Gas tank . Filling is simple and cheap with the correct adaptors (easy to buy from gas sure chester) fill up at any lpg filling station tank feeds cookerand fridge there is also a valve on the tank so that a gas barbie can be fitted via a length of rubber pipe. Tank fills up to 85% full and stops automatically cost me about 7.50 for 11 ltrs (think i gould have got it cheaper if i had shopped about)
LHD is a bit tricky to start with cos all what you are used to is different but once used to it is no problem although you will find u dont overtake much unless you on the motorway because u cant see past the thing in front. I think lhd adds to the fun of the vehicle .

Hi Andrew, Thanks for answering so quickly .This is a great forum thats just what I needed to know. I don't overtake much in my Devon anyway and yes they are all quirky, fun and individual. As they say it's a VW thing, if you don't know you won't understand. Ruby

All our buses have been LHD and to be honest I prefer it! Can be a bit hairy overtaking or pulling out on a motorway but so much easier when parking as you can see the kerb!

To be honest you will barely notice the difference after a few miles, except that you may keep bashing your left hand against the drivers' door to change gear!

Get a blind spot mirror for the rhs,
The blind spot caught me out on motorways a few time before I put a stick on blind spot mirror.

Other than that LHD is great when you go to europe , parts are easier to get hold of as well.
