Gear selection adjustment 4 speed

Post by happy camper »

Over the last couple of weeks my first gear has become between reverse and first and i have to push the lever down slightly to engage it, i have looked in the wiki and it doesn't seem to clear so i,m thinking that if i get under the van and mark the front and rear linkage at the centre split then disconect the two halfs turn it a couple of splines and reconect it will this sort the problem ?

Thanx
I'm in my own lill world but its ok cos everyone here knows me !

The last thing you want to be doing is splitting it at this stage, you will only make it worse.

Check all gear linkages /joints/ pivots and bushes for wear by getting underneath and if you don't know what you are looking for find someone who does.

as fritz says, this is typical of something being worn out and adjusting it will probably just transfer the problem to another gear. get someone to check it all out as either a bush or guide or both will probably need renewing.
