The gear tube protector is on all late 14's so are the extra bell housing breathers.( TD) The CV boot protectors were an optional extra on all moddles. the heavier shocks could also be ordered on 14's.
The LT is for sale at 24000 euro.

Want 16" Camper, like everyone!, But...

I also wanted a 16" syncro, but with a hightop and 4 berths.

My thoughts were that most syncro's now are very old vehicles that you cannot get serviced down the local VW garage, so I bought one at the peak of their prices, with low mileage and perfect bodywork, no seam rust what-so-ever. She was a factory hightop with the strengthening section around the roof for structural integrety, and made it all myself. This means that now I own a vehicle which is exactly how I want it, and I have a fair idea how to fix most of it myself, and carry the tools to do the job should she break down.

It is 30 months now since I started, and I would never give up my syncro, we have grown together, and she has taken us down to Corsica, to Denmark, to most parts of England without problem.

We have a very rugged child friendly interior with 70 litre compressor fridge, 70 litres of water, 150amp hours of leisure bat that can charge from flat at over 100amps at 14.8 volts, buckets of storage. She will do around 24mpg on holiday and between 20 and 22mpg on rural maneuvers.

If your dream is a 16" then nothing else will do, mine is 100% stock, and does everything I need, because of this I will probably keep it for longer than most syncro owners.

When the kids have gone, I will cut out the interior and start again on a two person set-up.

Quite simply put, comes from the heart and aptly explains what Syncro ownership is all about. Like Simon explains, he has grown up with his and knows every nut and bolt and has ended up with exactly what he wants.

So have I after nearly three years and I feel the same about mine as Simon feels about his yet they are two totally different vehicles but its the same dream.

And syncrosimon, the pictures of your camper in the middle of nowhere is exactly what i aspire to, no one around unless you want them to be! (at the risk of sounding like a miserable bugger!)

Unlike a lot of you, and although i am a mechanical engineer by training, i would be kidding myself if i was to think i had the skills to put something like this together! So as to knowing every nut and bolt, it is possible but will take me a little time.

I also agree with the comments about the residual value, i too think i will be keeping it for a long time but it is good to know you could recover a good chunk of the cost should you need to..........and good body work costs the same irrelevant as to whether it is on a standard T3, a 14" or a 16" or a Ferrari (well maybe a bit more for the Ferrari!)
