Help.......

Post by kaminokid »

Hi all,
Really need some advice. We have a squeaky grinding noise coming from the right hand rear wheel. We have replaced the drums, and the backplate is very worn, we have a replacement waiting to be fitted. However I am concerned that its something more serious.
Everyone keeps pointing at the wheel------ as if I cant hear it!!!!!
Any advice gratefully received.
Does anyone know anyone who might be able to help?
Cheers
Dave

Check the inner and outer CV joints on that side of the vehicle they may be running dry, and will squeak if left un serviced.

We had a similer problem and were told it was the backplate so we had new ones fitted but the noise came back after a short while and it ended up that it was the back bearings and so far so good

Thanks for all your ideas. In answer to your questions, in reverse it only squeaks, grinds in a kind of circular way uneven but consistent, quickens and slows with speed. No difference when braking, no difference when turning, no diff with conditions or amount of weight.
Thanks Dave

It's the main nut that holds your rear hub assembly onto the drive shaft, it's 46mm across .... if you can't find that you don't need a Haynes you need an optician
