westfalia fabric - washing

Just bought a westfalia. Can all the fabric that can be removed - curtains, seat covers etc be put in the washing machine ok?

Dont really know the answer BUT i do know that the zips that are put on sofa cushions are to do with keeping the manufacturing process simple NOT so they can be taken off and washed.
Your covers MAY not turn to rags but then again they might.
IF u take the risk keep the wash temp low and dont tumble dry.
Advice given without warranty ......lol.............

Test a small item first for colour fastness... should be OK... but you never know!

Safest would be to hand wash in warm water with Lux or some other hand wash liquid... probably OK to slow spin in the machine but would try to dry flat on a rack as their shape may alter if hung on washing line!
Softly softly is probably the best way... and report back to let others who are thinking of an autumn clean know if all went well!

Curtains wash OK on gentle wash, dry and iron OK (sure they`ve got a washing label on `em?). Not had the seat covers off, but have cleaned them with some of those "fabric cleaning wipes" with no drama. I do know that one of the Brickyard lads took his front seat-covers off and machine washed `em with no issues.

I washed mine on a 30 degree without spin and let them drip dry on the line.

I used a carpet shampoo machine for the seats that did not have removable covers aswell as the cab carpets.

All is good!

I have a Devon Moonraker. Some of the bed cushions are zipped and I decided to wash them. A real bugger to get off and an even worse job to get them on again. I washed on a low heat and low spin to be on the safe side. Worth the effort but a real fag.

I borrowed my brother's carpet cleaner to do the others, the floor, walls and ceiling.
There had been previous owners who were obviously smokers. The spring clean freshened the van up a lot. I also sprayed the walls and ceiling with fabreeze. I have not yet plucked up enough courage to wash the curtains.

Hi there, we have a westie, just washed our curtains and they where fine. However I do wish I had marked each curtain with its location, coz it was a bit stressful putting them back in... we had the seats cleaned by a pro, expensive but we would have been scrubbing for ever!!!

Rear seats and curtains are ok but be carefull of the front seats.
They have a cardboard bit at the bottom that clips under the seats, these tend to break up if put in a washing machine.
