This is the voltage stabliser for the low coolant level light- looks like a relay with '43' printed on the back. VW part no 191 919 376. The local VW dealer says it has been obsolete since 1997, no alternative offered. I understand there's a replacement but don't know the part no. Can I buy a 43 anywhere, or what's the alternative?
Temp gauge shows very hot, red light sometimes flashing, but I don't think it's actually overheating- just looking to replace this unit to rule it out.
Thanks
Richard

I've found a used one for £19.95 from a breaker, can't see one for 99p. Really, I was hoping to get a new one, looks like there's no such thing!
Cheers

Thanks a lot! I'm not certain my own is faulty- I'll try to test it- but it would be good to have one on the shelf if they are no longer made.

Richard have a look at ......https://club8090.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=56700.." onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;.
Its only a few posts earlier, AngeloEvs has done a lot of research into the various problems with the indicating systems, and has the virtually all the answers.
He will be along later I have no doubt.

I purhased a brand new one from VW last year, marked 42 but identical function and direct replacement according to my VW sales/service guy. I checked the pulse waveform and its identical to 43, it incorporates a later chipset thats all.
