Khyam Driveaway Awning, what a doddle

Post by Gunslinger »

We bought the huge Khyam Driveaway awning and the sun canopy that goes with it at Camperjam. We decided to put it up in a friends garden as our garden is too small and we were amazed at how easy it was. The guy we bought it from told us it would take 20 minutes to erect. Yeah, right, we said but right enough 20 minutes later it was all up and sorted. We were really impressed at how easy it was and its huuuge.
I know there has been a lot of posts recently about awnings and I can definately recomend this one for ease of erection .....ooooow matron (in Kenneth Williams voice)
Finding a pitch to fit it all on might be trickier though

Just come back from a week in Devon using our new Khyam driveaway awning which we bought from Fish Brain.
Just an amazing awning.Huge with seperate bedrooms for our two kids, masses of useable space for all our boards bikes dogs etc.
Easy to put up.
Best thing I have bought in years!!
Highly recommended.
Sheer size maybe a problem on some pitches though!
Packed away size bit too big to fit in front storage area of my Holdsworth poptop, but as I now have a trailer this is not an issue for me.
Enjoy the August Bank holiday and use those vans!
Hmm How much did you say?For that you gotto be joking....

We have had ours for about three years and it is great, although pitching it once when it was windy was difficult. The missues has fond memories of see me being dragged across a field with one very big kite! :D

Well I've just got back from a week in Devon with a new Motordome Tourer and thought it was rubbish. It totally fell to bits on us. One of the knuckle joints and a pole broke as I put it up. It stayed standing though and I ordered replacement parts. However before the parts came another knuckle joint broke and the thing totally collapsed. I had to go to the local camping place and waste £140 on another tent for the rest of the week. I've now had the Tourer replaced with a new one so will see how it goes at Run To The Hills at the weekend.

Sorry to hear about your woes,
Mine is the tunnel awning style with just 4 main poles and small upright poles for porch/sun canopy.
We had some heavy rain and strong winds one night (in addition to the kids after a curry) and no probs what so ever.
Quality seems good to me.
Hope you sort things out.Good luck

I love my Khyam Motordome Classic and I will be forever grateful to Ermie for pointing me at one that was going cheap as a 2nd.

Put it up on my own at Glasto in pouring rain in 15 mins tops and it just survived a week of gale force winds in Cornwall - was worried a knuckle would go but it didn't thank goodness.

My problem is getting it to stay attached the van as I have a windout sun awning which gets in the way and i don't have any figure of 8 thingies.

S

ps: oh yes and the fact i have to duck every time i leave the awning to go into the van - that's annoying!
