I have a vw t25 transporter 1987,1.9ltr camper van, engine code: DG.
I am unable to engage 2nd gear, on my 4 speed box, and as i haven't had time to get it repaired third gear is very difficult to engage now, as well.
I think i may have made a mistake when i replaced the gear linkage. how do i align the gears?

Re: GEAR BOX PROBLEM
basically two peeps
one in cab holds gearstick in neautral in 3rd/4th plane
person underneath loosens bolt on splined join then pulls the cupa nd ball out away from box and locks off bolt in that position
this assumes that cup and ball, rear onion and boots are all properly fitted and correctly positioned
fit rear onion plate to box (front of flange) not quite tight on the bolts, ensure skirt of boot pulled down over cup and push whole assy gently up and lock off bolts.
