Hi.I am looking to make more room inside our Hi top, The question is how far can i safely cut It is now cut just short of the rib from the side door towards the rear of the van I would like to cut a further 300mm past the rib towards the rear ie cutting out the rib??? I think I am asking for trouble what do you think?? as anybody done this bofore?? Many thanks for your replys. Hobopatch.
I think you will be asking for trouble cutting the Rib out. Its there for a reason.
Do you want your van to become a "Bendybuss" cos thats what it will be.

Ours is cut out from 'B'piller to rear hatch with a reinforcement 2"x 2"x 1/8" metal reinforcement. Works great. The factory German hi-top works vans had the entire top removed as do the campers, ambulances, etc. with the same fiberglass top. The Dehler campers have top cut out from "B" piller back too.
HiThanks for the replys sofar, Phredd,the reason is to give more room for standing also to help getting into the cupboard at the rear,Lloyd What sort of distance have you got between the "B"piller and the rear,?
thanks for your replys. Hobopatch.

I'm guessing about 8 feet. About 3-4" of roof edge is all that's left in. Same distance you have from "B" piller to rear hatch. As far as I know all our vans are same size. Holdsworth Villa is made on factory hitop van. http://www.caravansearcher.co.uk/carava ... Itemid,26/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
take a look at the pics for an idea of how much original roof there is.
