first run in my 84 devon
hi folks im about to try a dry run in my devon camper, but due to 2 brake downs and a new engine my confidence has drained any good campsites in berks/bucks,my van had in off the road 11 years hense hesitation, any info for a first run thanks steve
Re: first run in my 84 devon
Know exactly what you mean, we had the same thing with our van. Lost all confidence.
I can recommend a lovely campsite in Benson, Oxofordshire. Its a lovely place and rght on the Thames. Not sure how close that is. Its about 1 hour from Aylesbury, Bucks.
Here is the website:-

Good luck!!

Re: first run in my 84 devon
Sorry stiffler cant help with a site in bucks, just wanted to wish you luck mate, the good kind of course. We are having our maiden voyage in our new van tomorrow, we have had it ten days bought to camp in the so called summer whilst our home brew is having major surgery for the MOT man.
We are off to Weymouth, breakdown insurance at the ready, have spent today and the last couple of eves after work trying to prep the van, im ure she will make it there and back okay.
Try and get a few pics mate even if its just your van in a field. We are gonna try and get a few will post them on saturday night whilst im at work on the night shift.
Have FUN hope your van restores some faith.

Re: first run in my 84 devon
We've just come back from here,
http://www.homefarmradnage.co.uk
It was our first weekend away and everything was perfect, the owner used to own a Beetle and was impressed with our van so he went straight up in our estimation .
Also there was no rush to get us off site and seeing as Sunday was such a beautiful day the extra few hours were much appreciated !!

I'm very suspicious of my guage. The reading depends on whether I am stopped, moving, on the flat, going up hill, going down hill, etc etc. I can be worried that I am about to run out and then stop at traffic lights and find I still have half a tank! As a result, I tend to fill up once it is much below half full. My biggest fill is about 50 litres. I don't know if at that point I still had loads in the tank or not. I prefer not to find out the hard way.

Re: first run in my 84 devon
I suppose it does depend a bit on how full a fill up is but it does give a bit more confidence.
