Is it possibly what cupboards, seats or something once screwed to? I think most people will not have that in the van, is it bolted or welded? If bolted just unbolt, welded make sure it isn't structural!

Just replaced my wooden floor and 'that' isn't part of the normal floor structure. Might be that your floor is in two section and that they have been joined using whatever that is.

Hazard a guess here. Its probably the remains of a secured area that used to house expensive power tools etc. Possibly a steel box that was screwed to this and the inner panels.

Now this is one I can answaer with confidence. Mine was a bus before its convesion and it is a bar for the first row of seat fixing and mine had another bar 18" behind that one. So unless it is holding up a tank hung below I cant see any reason why you cant take it out.

(E D I T) just found my old bar and it has 6 X 8mm threaded holes and 4 X 8mm countersunk holes that bolted through the floor.

Looks like you've got to take the whole floor up and get back to basic T25, start over, painting/rust-proofing as you go... including that bar. The only sure way to find out is to strip it all out.

to sink the table support in do 'a lot ' of measuring then drill a small hole from the inside and make sure the bit only just goes through..then push some wire through the hole and go underneath and see how good your measuring was....if all good then get the hole saw out....while your under look for the bolts that might hold the metal bar in.

by the way...shame about the lino :run

My Van is a Caravelle, with 7 seats, the middle seats slide out on rails but they dont look like that..
My Van also had a wheelchair lift at one time, there are a number of holes in the floor from this, perhaps your van had something similar????

Thanks for the replies.. .

I'm not sure if its an original camper, its in devon moonraker style at the moment if not. It has devon stickers in a couple of places with numbers etc on.

Looks like pulling it out is the best way then :D
