Makes a change from "will these wheels fit my van"

Picked up a FREE 1960s kitchen from ebay which I've cut down considerably and made a self-contained unit that can be removed. Good for a freebie. With it came 12ft of worktop!



Bits to finish tomorrow: Slot on right-hand side is for an extra pull out worktop (using runners similar to that found on PC workstations only heavy duty) an extra drawer (sitting in sash cramps as I type this) and cupboard door. Unit will be fitted in using bolts and wingnuts so I can remove it if needed and swap for an extra buddy seat. Then a final coat of paint (not sure on colour but oven door is going dark blue rather than black).

Worktop a bit thick for my liking but not seen anything thinner.

We're singing from the same Hym book, O.K, the unit isn't quite to my taste but being able to whip it out easily is! At least yours was a freebie, mine is costing an arm and a leg so far but totally agree that a flexible 'in or out' modular design is the way to go.

Weight/functionality is always a priority for me against style I think. For those winter months I'll pack a compact stove stored under the back seat and fit a seat in its place. Next hurdle is some proper toggle catches that hold it really securely but allow for easy removal as required. At some point I'll be retrimming interior and it'll be much easier to do so if I can move stuff in or out rather than having to uncrew stuff. Drawer and cupboard handles are being replaced with similar one to oven door handle so it all at least looks right. Have also added extra drawer (for cutlery) to right hand side since I tool this shot and it won't stay white - that was more a base coat.
