Pinzgauers in Bristol

Post by pimpdriver »

Anybody seen the pair of Pinzgauers (I think, they were just a green blur as I sped past in my 1.6TD panel van) in Horfield, Bristol? Was going to go home past them and take a pic (sad I know).

Yes see them all the time; on Wellington Hill. First there was one, now there are two and they seem to get used in anger as well !

I thought they might be something to do with you as you are around that neck of the woods aren't you?

Do they make good campers or are they too high?

With Pinzgauers the question is always when, not if as in -

when it gets up that hill

when it wades that river

when I get my hands on one

etc

They are incredible vehicles. I have seen a 6WD camper - it just sort of walked disdainfully around the event I was at where everything else was sliding around.

Not anything to do with me; although I wouldnt say no to a trial run if it were offered.

I live nearby and pass them regularly; or they pass me; its the buzz of those tyres, makes you turn around sharpish :D

When it rolls over....

When it fails to take a bend on a slightly icy road, ploughs through a
garden wall & tries to climb a tree - result new cab required.

Looks the part eg. tough & rugged etc.

BUT...rather overated???

Over-rated depends on the price...... it DOES have portal axles and lockers etc and I've not seen many pictures of rolled ones and I've seen some spectacular footage of them too.

Like I said, the camper conversion I saw just walked round stuff everything else was really struggling with.
