ZIGGY.....

Post by Trish »

Hi, we have an Autosleeper Trident with a ZIG unit down below the rear bench seat which has a single on / off switch. I know that it charges the leisure battery but does it have to be switched 'on' to do so? :?:  If anyone could help us with what the ZIG unit does we would be very grateful :)

Gong to stay at Cae Du in Beddgelert tonight for first trip away in van with two very excited young boys.

I was under the impression Tridents didn't come with a 'Zig' unit although they do have their own control panel over the sink unit. This unit you mention may well have been fitted by a previous owner. Can you see a model number on it or get a picture of it up?

Its a ZIG DCU/3 'Remote charging unit and power supply for caravans'. You are correct in that there is a control panel for electrics above the sink unit. The original instruction manual doesn't mention a ZIG unit so i guess its been fitted by a previous owner.

Thanks

I've googled it but there is very little information available other than that it's as you say a battery charger and power supply. The power supply part usually powers the 12v lights, water pump etc, but whether it's been linked to them via your Autosleeper control panel or not who knows? Maybe just the charger side is connected? As for whether it needs to be switched on to do this I suppose the only logical answer would be 'yes'.............and connected to a hook-up point.
