Fridge Power

Post by JW1 »

I have just fitted a Aux Battery and after reading the manual it say that the fridge will only work via 12V power when the engine is running.

If i turn up at a campsite and I am unable to use external power, is it possible to still use the fridge on 12V power without starting the engine. If yes can you confirm that the thermo dial needs to be all the way to the left and just select the battery power button on the fridge?

A fridge will very quicly flatten your battery, hence the relay to make sure they only draw power when the engines running.
Whilst your parked up, run it on gas, hardly uses any and it's more efficient than the 12 volt cooling (ours is anyway)
:ok

Does it actually work on the Aux Battery without engine running then?

Only got a Butane 907 bottle to connect up at the moment. Need to get this tested too. Anyone local you can recommend?

Nope, it shouldn't work at all on 12volt without the engine running.
You could try Brownhills motorhome place in Newark for your gas checks & service - no idea on prices, I use Tui Motorcaravans in Bawtry, bit further up from you but quite good & very friendly.
