Swedish 16" Doka - Headlights Always On

Post by Yozza »

Hello,
The headlamps are always on (when the ignition is on) regardless of light switch position, is this due to it being a Swedish spec motor or do I need to start untangling the rats nest under the dash as it might be a wiring issue?
Cheers,
Yozza

We have the same thing in Norway. Up here driving lights re mandatory at all times. The driving lights are actually not the same as low beams, the voltage is reduced so they give less light than low beams. At least that's what I have been told, and that's the way mine is.

To stop the headlights being on all the time, you need to remove the relay - sure it's on the top line and it's a little one, been a long time can't remember the number.

Once again, thanks for the info regarding the Norway light spec and the light relay, I'll start poking around for the relay.

We're so used to everyone driving with their lights on that a car without daytime lights really sticks out on the road. I'm more comfortable with moving car = lights on. Feels safer.

Why do you want to disconnect them?

Mine is like this, I think from memory you can just pull appart a wire with yellow plastic connector on to knock them off, they are slightly dimmer than when you actually turn the lights on.

I've just left mine, don't see a problem with them being on all the time tbh.

I'm not too bothered about the lights being on, I'm just not sure if I wanted to be put in the same category as a Volvo driver.

My DOKA is a Swede. The lights are on all the time. I like it that way.

The only down side is when you are greenlaning and you have someone guiding you through a tricky bit. In the gloom of a dark lane the lights can be quite blinding for your spotter.

I don't think that is normal. When the switch is on and I turn the engine off on mine the low beams and dash lights will stay on but the engine cuts as usual.
