Hi All, my 2.1 mv engine from my 91 vanagon has blown crankshaft seal and the shims had disintegrated, removed gearbox and replaced shims and seal for the oil to again start pouring from bottom of bell housing. The engine has been pulling like a train running nice with no unusual noises and engine nice and balanced.Whats going on??? Is it worn crankshaft with excess play causing the blown seal?? worn bearings??? I have lined up a new vega engine replacement as my bus is our only ride but i really would like some tech advice on this problem.
Thanks

Well Shakey ,either your van has done a million miles before you got it OR it has been re built on the cheap OR you have been driving it like a 'Barryboy' since you bought it........
A worn crank with loads of end float tends to indicate a hard life in any ones eyes, so you problem with blown seals is about right,,,,,,,,,,the crank is Shagged out and in need of replacement.......
