Here we go again. The buzzer of doom on my 1.9 dg again. I've changed the low oil pressure switch,the high pressure switch and the oil pressure relief valve spring and plunger. The van has been in the vw agent and they have checked the pressure on tick over and at high revs. The oil pressure is bob on. I bought another PCB l-shaped board off ebay(with no issues) and fitted it tonight. light and buzzer still come on at about 3000 rpm. The connections on the white multiplug all look clean and shiny brass. So Help! where do I go from here? (I've removed the offending pcb and am running without it)

I don't use the BOD even though its works and removed it. I now have a green LED in the corner of my speedo housing that can be connected to the socket that the pcb used to fit in. I switch the engine on and the LED lights green, it stays on all the time unless the rpm drops below a 1000. I find it far more informative than a the BOD. Its simple to do and tells you exactly what the high oil pressure switch is doing and not relying on a badly designed circuit that is as reliable as the weather that tells you sweet fa untill its too late!

Whey Hey,,,,,,,,,,,,,just incase we have all gone a bit 'snooker loopy' the Buzzer of Doom will rear its nasty head IF the oil hasn't been changed for a while,,,

Just in case we have all forgotten the obvious............. :shock:

With the pcb removed you have also disabled the RED led and have no oil pressure warning at all. Pre 86, the low presssure led was connected directly to the switch. If a change of oil doesn't cure the problem and the oil pressure switch has been renewed, the wire that connects to it is in good condition and the connection at the coil is OK then you need to do a diagnostic check at the pcb socket. LED's can be inserted into the vacant pcb socket or a multimeter will do, but LED's will allow you to drive the vehicle and indicate the condition of the two switches under driving conditions.
