Van died yesterday! Head Gasket!?!

Post by dirtyroger »

Hey ya'll,

My van has been running beautifuly for sometime, BUT yesterday on our way back with London with the full band and full of gear it started making a horible tapping noise, it overheated overheated then the oil buzzer came on and stopped. Bugger! RAC dude came ran a few tests and told me my head gaskets gone. So had to get it lifted back on the back of a trailer and dropped off back to BRistol! It wasn't all bad as the designated driver i could now join the rest of the band and get :trunk :trunk :trunk

So who can tell me how likely the RAC man would be with his chemical test, claiming the head gasket is gone.

It's never made such a horrible clunking noise as it did yesterday, as i put my foot on the eccelerator it made an increasingly loud tapping noise. Unfortunatly had no other choice than to keep on going as i was stuck in stupid London traffic.

Anybody got any miracle fix ideas, we got loads of gigs and festivals coming up and really need a van! maybe buying a new one. :idea

Its an auto 1.9DG if that helps

Never argue with an idiot. They drag you down to their level, then beat you with experience

Fitting a rebuilt engine would fix it...........

Dont even contemplate letting your local garage look at it.. overheated and buzzer on means its very likely toasted..
