Rattle underneath

Post by CovKid »

Not expecting anyone to know the answer to a rather vague description but today I'm getting a rattle (sounds just like a loose gear linkage rattling against something underneath). Goes when engine is under load, louder when decelerating. CV joints are new and bolted up snug. Could be a bugger to isolate this one. Ideas?

Speedo cable?

I get an intermittent rattle, maybe once for a while on long journeys, rarely otherwise... given up going underneath to take a look (but then it is an active Syncro and usually dripping with you don't want to know what!)

Possibly cross-wind dependent. Maybe a wire or cable or maybe a bit of trim. Maybe I'll even discover it one day :)

Bit noisier than that. Will jack it up tomorrow but these things never show themselves when its stationary. Definate metallic rattle under there though - enough to really worry me. The only thing thats changed is that new sill and the van a lot lighter after taking almost everything out of it.

Not ran over the wife have you by any chance?
On wings like angels whispers sweet
my heart it feels a broken beat
Touched soul and hurt lay wounded deep
Brown eyes are lost afar now sleep xxHayleyxx

Need to throw this out for suggestions again. Noise is similar to that of loose CV bolts but these are torqued up tight and joints in perfect order (new). Noise is most noticeable when decellerating and appears to come from rear of vehicle. Very slight play in one wheel bearing but not so you'd really notice. Will replace the bearing just because, but that wouldn't create the kind of noise I'm hearing.
