Camping with a dog.

Post by Wolves3 »

Hiya,

Me and my partner are getting a dog soon and can't wait to take him camping with us only thing is we're unsure of where the dog can sleep. Where do other members with dogs put them to sleep.

Many Thanks
Allan

The same as T'Onion not nice when wet!!!!! We got her a travel cage thought it was safer. We also got her one of those thingmebobs that you screw into the ground and attach a long leash to we just make sure she can pop in and out of the van. We took her all round Europe in June she loved it

We're looking at getting a Basset Hound, I've wanted one since i was 10, apparently they are also an extremely stubborn breed so the dog will probably get the bed and i'll be on the floor on his blanket

We have 2 springers they both sleep under the rock and roll bed on a dog pad.
When traveling they are in the back above the engine and behide a cargo net.
For when on site I have made up to long leads out of buggy that clips onto the rear jacking point with a climbing thing.

Our Sam has his bed (one of those fur-covered foam beds) on the floor in front of the sliding door, but he jumps up with us more often than not.

Having an awning is very handy, especially in the wet weather, so you can towel them off, wipe paws, etc., and we also put his food/water down in the awning. We also have one of those screw-in thingys that we attach him to, so he can lie outside or in his bed, which we move into the awning in the day.

we have 2 rather large lurchers & both of their beds (just about) fit on the floor between the R&R bed & the cab area ........we have to put fleecy coats on them though cos they have very thin fur & get cold (they're both wuss's)

as I said, we can fit both of their beds on the floor but the dogs inevitably end up squished with us on the bed.............nearly 12 stone of dog

Get a little un & pop it in the cupboard (joke!!!)

we went to the peak district last weekend with some friends who were camping, the're staffy was terrified of the biblical rain, so he ended up in the van with us, as well as our two spaniel/staff cross. me, mrs wm, and three wet restless dogs, it was not a restfull night sleep
pity those who don't drink, when they wake in the morning, thats the best they will feel all day!
