Happy Valley, Wales

Post by Walrus »

Anyone heard of Happy Valley?

I'm off to Wales for a week on Saturday (to go caving) and someone has suggested this for a little diversion for a day.

I've done a Google search and seen a few LR's on UToob bombing down a 'road'. Is a 14" syncro on road wheels capable of navigating it? Would The Van Formerly Known as Beaker cope with it?

I have never done this area in the van but did do quite a few welsh lanes on a trip earlier this year. One thing i would say is dont go alone or without another 4x4 to help each other out when stuck. I had goodrich ATs on and in the wet muddy bits they were "pooh" really, road tyres would have been well pony. I went with some people who were very experienced in off road driving and even they said some bits were frightening  here are a couple of clips of the trip,

Don't know the route, but from the vid it looks to be fairly challenging.

Yeah, great to see he put the gate back up once he had knocked it down and gone through! - Now where do off-roaders get a bad name from?

Word to the wise though don't lane on your own, it is strongly advisable to have 2 vehicles whilst out and about.
