Autohomes have a little stow away under the sliding door cupboard and my Autohomes had a small Thetford Porta loo stashed in it.

I could be wrong , but think this one is the one that fits in the autohomes cupboard (under the sliding door)

I've removed the tall cupboard thing from the back of my autohomes and have a small chemi-bog which fits, in it's box, into the gap. It is a very small one and is ideal for my 7yr old when at music fests as the loos can be a bit of a trek and not very nice.

Ange, my owners manual talks about the porta potti being in that space below the sliding cupboard (y'know the one with the door you fixed for me lol!).

I do like the idea of a more professional beastie that has flush and tanks and so on - rather than a basic bucket enhanced with a toilet seat LOL.



ps: lovin the spade (we called ours Doug when camping in Namibia) but think littlie too little to dig a decent hole!

What I don't like is the price of the liner bags! £8 for four bags is pretty steep.

Can you tell me what the inside is like? Could you just dispense with the bag and drop a bit of chemical in the bottom then empty regularly?

Yep i would think that would be perfectly practical as there is a small removable container inside which would facilitate easy disposal and cleansing.

TBH it was all the rigmarole of disposal, chemicals etc that i wanted to get away from, i agee the bags seem expensive but we only use the on board Khazi very occasionally so the cost of bags is not really an issue.

What you are proposing sounds very messy to me and probably non-hygenic. with the Thetford and others all the nasty stuff is fully enclosed and you are not going to smaell anything.
The £8 for four bags is steep, even if they are coated. I might be inclined to buy a roll of thick garden sacks and dispose after every visit.

Just answering a question i wouldn`t use anything other than the bio-degradable gelert bags and based on the amount of times we used our old conventional chemical khazi we will only use 4 or five bags a year so in real terms it will be cheaper than using the chemicals.

still as i say it ain`t been used yet so until it is all i have said is Hypothetical, i will post back (but no pictures) when i know if it is any good or not.

At Apps we were discussing using a swingbin liner in the "bucket" and puncturing a couple of holes in it to let the wee wee thru so it just caught the poo.

I got quite excited about putting cat litter stuff in the bag to soak up the wee wee as well. Well, maybe excited is a bit OTT, let's say enthusiastic!

I still like the concept of having the "waste product" isolated therefore easier to dispose of............

Just not sure the bank balance can carry that right now!

Thetford 335 is what we have , fits into the gas cupboard of our autohomes Kamper , no smell, hassle free, cost 45 £ 10 years ago and still as new, so well worth it IMHO !

Our first trip to france back in the days of turn ups and 405 line TV converted us to Porta Potties. We have one in the van, one in our little day boat and a spare brand new we picked up for a tenner in the loft. With Loo Blue in the bottom and smelly water in the top they are perfectly hygenic. However Standing to pee can be problematic aimwise while they are just a tad too high for kneeling at. Squatwise they can't be beaten except maybe by a proper plumbed in job. Having said that the state you find public bogs in you have to wonder about some peoples habits at home!

They look great and would fit my autohomes gas cupboard too but they're £80+ new
