WBX & Aircooled...Is all push-rod tinware the same?

Post by KarlT »

Hi,
The tinware under my push-rod tubes is held together by rust. Where can you get new bits?

Not to hard to make either. Sheet aluminium bends and cuts easy - made loads for bays and beetles that had bits missing. Also seen it made from those thick foil barbeque charcoal containers!

Useless buggers. I phoned Exeter Monday they told me they were no longer available. Will try again.
Are yours cheaper/same quality Mr Brickwerks? Couldn't see them on your site.

I have a pair on the shelf, if your van centre talk "pooh" drop me a mail and I'll bag them up for you.

Cheers Simon but, as suggested, for £90 I'll have ago.

Quick question..... Is a 1.9 tinware the same as 2.1 come to that is the old Aircooled 1600/1300 type1 engine the same, are bolt holes/dimensions the same? Would pushrod tinware from one fit the other?

:idea

afaik it's all different, certainly different part nos.
Surely syncrospares have got a pile of these there were quite a few engines scrapped in the last few years and CJ would have stripped them, new owners may have got to the bottom of the pile.

They are there to protect your thin-walled ali push-rod tubes. Thinking of making some, shall I put you down for first order? 8)

Okay Aidan, are 1.9 & 2.1's the same?

:ok
