Hi Guys, i was coming out of town today and whilst changing up from 2nd to third my gearstick went all floppy and the van was stuck in 2nd couldn't really stop as i was on the main ringroad so i limped her back to our workshop where we found the culprit to be a broken plastic u/j that fits between the front and rear parts of the gear linkage almost right in the middle of the underside of the van, i went to the motorfactors next door who didn't even have the part listed, then i rang GSF at peterborough who didn't have one either, what we've managed to do is rob a similar one off of a scrap ford escort its a little shorter than the origional but we've packed it out with a couple of washers as a tempary repair until i can locate the correct part, do any of you nice people know the correct name, number and where i can obtain one from ?
Thanx
P.S its worth carrying a couple of long zip ties in ya van cos if this part ever fails on your van then a temp repair can be made at the roadside by pushing the broken bits together and ziptieing then in place
Part name and number needed please

If anyone else suffers a failure of this part a ford escort mk6 part will fit packed out with a couple of washers either side of the unit but i'd advise getting the bits from a salvage yard as you'll have to buy the whole linkage from ford as the pins are pressed in but can very easily be drilled out
