The cable frays inside the sleeve.
I can't remember if I dropped the tank or not when i did mine.
Sorry, I'm not much help.
I do remember it wasn't a hard job at all sorting the cable out.

A camper, a longboard and waves - what more is needed?
its quite an easy job owdblade....took me about 45 minutes on me back to do.....the lil' clip on the end of the pedal lever is a bit tricky tho......................
I used a length of cable bought off a roll from a local custom motorcycle shop and used the brass bit from the inside of those electrical connectors known as "chokkie blocks" for the ends , but since then I have been told that the genuine article is cheap and easy to obtain from the likes of GSF and JK (and maybe even VW van centres, they are often overlooked for simple spares) though I reckon Simon at Brickwerks might be the first and best port of call. Just to remind peeps that I have the outer sleeve in stock by the metre, 3m inc post is £5, if you find the sleeve is broken or cracked or has been shortened to much
I got under and checked where the stuff was, and started to take it apart. No problems, the sleeve was really brittle and broke, but i used what i had.
Anyways, i've fitted it all, but i can't get enough length on the pedal end?
I'm not sure i've taken the correct route after the tank, i didn't take much notice where it ran beforehand, but it seems like the straightest route.
