autohomes roof bed

Post by TravellingChick »

Hi

Anyone got an autohomes solid sided poptop with sleeping platform?

I have a fixed platform above the rock n roll bed that comes about level with the draining board then a gap till you reach the cab.

Above the cab (below the roof release catch) is a shelf that pulls out only mine is only pulling out about a foot. It appears to be hinged but it's sticking on the left side, or I think it is as I am not exactly sure how far it's supposed to pull out.

I had thought this shelf was supposed to pull out then butt up agains the back fixed shelf to create the double bed space.

Or is the pull out shelf really only supposed to be a foot with a hinge and there is another (missing) segment that drops into the space to complete the top platform?

Any info greatly appreciated, am supposed to have a friend and her toddler sleeping up there next weekend!

Cheers
Sarah

hi Sarah,

there should be 2 roof sections that are stored in that area abouve the cab. When you pull out the first one the second should be attached witha a little clip. if working correctly both of these then slide over to join the main bed section to make the double bed. If you are having trouble pulling the roof sections out try giving it a firm shove back in - this might re align and re connect both sections - this worked for me once!

Thanks Sam, I wondered why I could see a hinge.

Trouble is, on the right there's 5mm clearance and the shelf is coming out ok but on the left there's zero clearance and it's jamming :(

Will have another go at it on THE weekend.

strange... it must have got jammed against the side somehow. Are you able to post any pictures? Also, I seem to remember you were trying to source roof cushions a while back - did you manage it? if not the bed will be too short anyway.

Anyway, hopefully it'll come free. let me know how you get on!

Hi Sam

Got the roof cushions courtesy of Rugchucker - top guy!

No pics as actually don't think they'd come out too well tbh.

I need a metal ruler or somesuch to slide along and see if I can coax it out altho suspect roof subsidance due to the "catching" side have no clearance at all and the "non catching" side having about 5ml clearance.

ho hum!
