Hey all,
Fixing/servicing mothers van for her summer hols and having trouble getting it to start reliably.
Narrowed this down to the choke sticking on, thus flooding the van. If the van is started with the choke manually held off it starts fine everytime.
Engine is a 1600CT with a Solex 34 carb.
Given the carburettor was serviced late last year I doubt the choke has a mechanical fault, and it could just be that in this heat the choke isn't needed, and the sensor for the choke is playing up.
So is there anyway of sticking the choke off or adjusting its end stop so its not as far on to get her off on her hols, and longer term what could be causing this (choke sensor?).

Re: Sticking choke
well you could undo and rotate the assembly that reduces the choke as it warms up so that it isnt fully closed on these warmer days..... easy enough and I bet the choke was set to "max choke"
what needs to be done on a cold winters day after a good frost is setting of the mech so its just closed

then altered again for winter driving.

If it starts fine without the choke I would take it off for the time being and check the heater element and components are functioning correctly. I have a manual choke on a 1.9DG and haven't had to use it since fitting in April. I get around 25mpg on Petrol so there aint much wrong with the carb.

Re: Sticking choke
so 2 things here.
How do I switch the choke off completely?
How do I rotate the choke assembly - is it in the Haynes manual (how to set it up section)?
