Hi there,
I am planning to live in my 1987 T25 and am doing a few modifications to it, mainly fitting a hi-top roof instead of the usual one and installing a small wood burner for the winter. It also currently runs on waste veg oil.
Do you know if it would be possible to insure it like this? I really hope so as i dont like the thought of it not being valid if something happens.
I also read on here some time ago that you could get specific insurarance for campers-wold this be cheaper than the normal car policies.
Thanks for the help, Raphaela

where would you route the chimney for the wood burner.being as the high top is fibreglass.? would it not be safer to fit a propex or eberspacher heater.i should think any insurance company would be unhappy with you having wood burning fire in the van.let us know how you get on...

Thanks for the help, I will give those a try
about the wood stove, basically im hooked on this idea and nothing else really does it for me. i thought about taking the chimney out the side. will see how it goes though. my priority is to have the hi-top as otherwise i cant stand in it!

Clarkson put one in saloon car, and you do have flues going through thatched roofs - just need the right kind of flue to ensure the hot bit does not touch the fibreglass.
Or vent to the side.

yup flues do go thru thatched roofs but surrounded by at least 225mm stone and at least 50mm away from anything combustable. how you gonna do that in a hi top?

i've seen quite a few campers with wood stoves made from small calor gas bottles with flu pipes going up thr the roof you just have to put flame retardent wadding stuff around the flu as it goes thru the roof i guess..
