Hi All,
Fitting a couple of lap belts to the middle row of seats of my Caravelle. Belts and fitting hardware are from another VW T25 so all original stuff.
Between the two seats is a metal upright with a threaded eye, this is covered by a thin steel panel on either side. This panel has holes through it, but is not 'load bearing'. The bolt to take the seatbelt stalks passes through the first skin and the threaded centre section no probs, but it just doesn't line up with the second hole. Thought the bolt might be bent, so tried another, no luck.
Hmm. Is this a manufacturing fault? Can I safely drill / file this outer skin to enlarge the hole? Its only out by about 1-2mm.
Cheers,
Olly

Re: Seat belt bolt
Heres a pic of the hole in question

and heres the other side

Not great pics i'm afraid, but you can see the area i'm talking about. On closer examination, one side is the support fo rthe seat back, the otherside is part of the seat base support. They seem to be just out of alignment. Might be able to slacken off all the bolts and jiggle it into place if its not spot welded together.

Mine looks the same, though it is difficult to see exactly.
The bolt passes through the hole, with a seatbelt ancorage on each side of the strut.
