clunking on right bends ,? rhs ?

Rear wheel/cvj/bearing/brakes or something ! is clunking on a right hand bend esp roundabouts , should we move to france or could anyone help ?
Nowt really relevant in wiki, have checked bearings 9/3 o clock nowt , 12 oclock v slight movement on both rear wheels but barely ; spin ok and nowt heard ; brakes all new, work fine , springs good , newish shockers ;all gears engage fine .
cv joints move very very very slightly up/down (i think ) but move fine in/out , no loose bolts that i can see.
Getting slowly worse .
Anyone any ideas ?

if tightening the bolts don't stop it I would say your CV's are shot

Have had this problem recently clunking and a scraping noise on roundabouts right hand.I replaced the rear wheel bearings & CV joints looked over the rear brakes&drums and back plates.Still had the clunking and scraping noise i looked at the gearbox mounting and discovered the metal&rubber bonding was parting.I replaced the gearbox mounting expensive £100 + problem solved no clunking or scraping .

Sounds like CV joints. You say they 'move fine in and out' - put it this way I've fitted new ones and they don't move 'in and out' at all now and all is silence at the back and feels better all round. The play evident in the joints has also made pulling away more 'solid'. Mine also made noise under conditions you describe and as short term measure over winter I made a hole in each gaiter and punped grease in but new ones were permanent cure. The grease may have dried up in there. You could just take them off, repack with grease and give you a bit longer time but play is play. As I indicated in another thread, they cost just over £90 for four including gaiters, grease, bolts etc. You can pay substantially more than that but these seem ok.

Yep its ok, but if its going with a resounding thump with little resistance, chances are the joints are bone dry and/or they're becoming near to the end of their useful life. Repacking them does shut them up (for a while) but its definately a sign of wear. I had no idea just how worn mine were till I fitted new ones - no play in any direction on mine and no noises since. I was annualy stripping them down and repacking them but reached the point where it was less work to just fit new ones and be done with it. Theres also the added non-bonus that play in them gets transmitted to wheel bearings and everything else which can't be good. Wear creates wear as they say.

Mine always made that regular noise on roundabouts (worse one side if I remember). If you can't afford new joints or just want to reduce the noise, take em off, give them a clean (paraffin seems to clean them up ok) and repack with loads of new grease. If you start getting a clonking in a straight line (and chances are you will eventually), stop, give each driveshaft a pull left and right then drive on and see if noise has gone. If it stops, you know the ultimate solution. They can go on for ages, years sometimes, with wear in them but sooner or later they'll fail. Its surpising how much noise they produce though. Mine used to hum at high speed on long runs!

Yeah , thanks Covkid , i stuck a grease gun in both gaiters on RHS today, squirted a reyt good load in esp the outer one , and LO ! the sideways/in out movement is indeed significantly reduced ! Have not had time to road test it , and anyway nearest roundabout is 15 miles or so, so not sure whether this side is the faulty one or if it's both, but will do t'other once tested .
Also checked the gearbox mount , don' think that is the cause here , could be a little stiffer but not 2 bad.
