Camping charges ?

Post by Diane »

Hi

I am thinking of buying a 3 berth tent (well actually named a six berth, but I think thats 6 hobbits) because I cant get an awning big enough for 2 teenage kids that dont get on, but I dont want to get conned into paying for two pitches i.e. van and tent! Had some experience of this when we didn't attach our JK awning to the van, because the attachment to the van is hopeless in heavy rain, and easier to pitch separately. And we cannot camp in a particular site in Cornwall to all sleep in a tent if we have arrived in our VW, because due to planning restrictions they do not allow any campers/motorhomes in a specific field apart from prime school holiday period, even though VW is our only mode of transport.

I am actually a bit hacked off with this, with a vw and awning you actually take up a lot less pitch than some of these tents that have their own dining room, so I think little VW vans have a poor deal.

Anyone else camp with tent and VW, rather than awning and VW? And feel that they are being charged excessively?

Never had any issues with caravan club sites with this:-

5 berth tent.

though some privately owned sites tend to add £ the more you take. I like sites with one price for any thing attached to the van

try pitching as van and tent if they have odd pricing.
