FM is that clip supposed to be SO hot ?

Post by Fritz »

Tonight (Monday ) I have been mostly charging a battery which at best was only good enough to lock the doors on this Fiesta I was checking over,,

anyway to cut a long story WHY during the charging process is the Negative crock clip almost too hot to hold ? It can't be due to a poor connection as I have cleaned/rubbed/scraped the lead post to an inch of its life......

Is the resistance in side the battery- hence the heat at the crock clip,,,,,,,and besides it seems to be very slow to accept any amount of charge .

I could do with some guidance as I don't rally want to leave it on charge all night with the crock clip getting hotter by the minute..

Regards

I would think the battery condition has degraded thus requiring high amps at at all times from the battery charger. In effect its not really accepting a charge the hot negative clip on the batt is offering a high ressistance.

It's more likely you have a poor crimped connection on the cable from the battery charger.
