Re: Is this a standard T25 engine?
You wont regret a 1Y conversion. You still need to drive it (maintain momentum at all costs) but you will also need to back off to save blowing her up. The biggest thing you will notice is that the 1Y revs higher so you can pull an aditional 10mph before you grab 4th. meaning it will then pull 4th raher than droping back to 3rd a 1/4mile later.
I look forward to reading your conclusions.
One more thing. Spigot bearing !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Oh and another - I use the 1Y alternator pulley system as do quite a few others.

Re: Is this a standard T25 engine?
Cheers for the advice Dood - what do you mean by backing off to save blowing her up??! Good god, i've already blown up one engine and i've only had the van a few weeks
I gotta stop driving it like i rides me bike
Can you give me a few more details about the 1y alternator pulley system dood? I'm guessing it's a mod?
And yeah, Wellie and maybe a couple of others mentioned the spigot - can you advise where i can order one from?

Re: Is this a standard T25 engine?
i use the 1y setup too...it was a bit vague why we had to change over so i just left it..summats to do with the bottom pulley bolt undoing itself i think..if it goes on me ill buy another engine coz i think the setup is better, simpler.
the spigot bearing can be got from brickwerks...

Re: Is this a standard T25 engine?
Well, i went up to Guildford today to collect the 1900 engine. And when i got there i found out it was a fonkin' 1600 engine
To be fair to the guy he only realised himself whilst i was there (he only took it out of the van yesterday and was in the process of taking the gearbox off when i arrived, which was when he noticed that it was a 1600) and he immediately offered me hard cash for my diesel costs and for my time. But as the van and diesel had been paid for by my long-suffering employer (
) i had a pull-out side awning from him imstead, which will fit proper neatly on the side of my van after i've given it a tidy up.
So, i am still looking for a 1y engine if anyone out there knows where there is one looking for a good home.....

Re: Is this a standard T25 engine?
I think your old engine is a JP 54bhp.
Same as mine.
virtually the same as the CS except different waterpump due to single pulley...Out of a Golf.
Rob.
