Having had a cam belt snap in a car i had a few years ago (pricey one!!!) i thought it wise to have cam belt in bus changed and whilst he's on, change the other belts as well!
Just wanted to know if anyone had an idea of the sort of price i should be looking at for changing cam belt 'kit' (as he told me, includes tensioner n plastic bush/washer i believe) and also belt on the alternator and the one on the water pump?
I'm sure i could manage other belts but didn't fancy messing with cam belt! Does anyone know if its an easy job, how long it takes etc. Anyone changed them or had them changed? how much did it cost?
Just don't wanna get ripped off (suprisingly!!)
Its a 1985 B reg, 1600 diesel engine (non turbo)
Cheers, Al

If I can change a cambelt I'm sure anyone can.
Although I set it all up TDC and all that, I just loosened the tensioner removed and replaced the belt and retensioned it.

Re: Changing Belts - How much???
book time is 1.9 hours
replace the tensioner pully too
£100-120
£40 an hour = 76
belt £10
pulley £20
may as well change waterpump and alternator belts too

Re: Changing Belts - How much???
Cheers for advice guys!Had it done today, £125 all in which seems about right broken down is £38 for cam belt kit (he kept old tensioner for me to see as its well worn and was a wise move to change it now!) £75 labour and the £12 for other 2 belts (pump and alternator).Worth it for piece of mind i suppose, now all i got to do is collect her in the morning and i'm back on the road, hopefully without the squealing of slipping belts
