Hmmm, where can I get this interior bit from!?

Post by shortbloke »

Hi all

Hope someone can help.

When we brought our little baby (Aircooled 2.0l petrol RHD '82 T25) the steering column shroud (upper and lower) was missing, so to the bit below the dash - smack bang in the middle between the driver and passenger think from memory covers some vents etc?? I've shown the bits I mean on another van (where they are not missing).

I know I can pick up a steering column shroud on ebay for £30 (missed one that went for £6!!!!) but does anyone know what the other bit is called or a part number or something… or If anyone has a “spare" of either of these bits that would be even better!

Thanks

Try Billy739 ... he breaks 25s and will no-doubt have the parts you desire.

Volkswagen still sell plenty of new parts for the Type 2 transporter. The bits you want from VW are listed below

Steering column shroud upper satin black (251-953-515A 01C) £7.59
Lower shroud satin black (251-953-516 01C) £18.56

Centre air duct trim satin black (251-259-135B 01C) £37.97

all prices are not including VAT

Looking at the ebay price you quoted for the steering column I'd get new and then give CJ a call at http://www.syncrospares.co.uk" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; about the centre air duct piece

..Out of interest does anyone know what the purpose of the large number of pre-drilled holes are above the ashtray?! Is some form of vent or speaker grill, or jsut to look pretty?!!

I am looking at doing a mod on my dash and this bit will get covered up with the new stereo / gadgets modual thats goning to go there.

Thanks

I use it to store screws and bolts in....

not sure if that's its proper purpose, though!

Its covered on my other van with a dash tidy - the van hasn't exploded yet!

hi mate, just seen your post, iv got the shroud for the top of the heater which i bought in era i think is off an earlier van as it doesnt fit mine which is an 84, even though it does look the same, the bottom edges are different shapes, its very good condition give us a £5 and its yours to pick up or you can pay the postage steve.
