I really want an opening window in my sliding door, as I have a panel van and don't want to cut any windows in it, so the sliding door that I've got (with a factory window opening) is my only chance to get some light and air in. I've just bought a set of westy double glazed windows and fancied fitting the hinged opening one.
Has anyone ever done this? Any problems or issues that I need to know about?
Cheers

Re: Westy opening window in Sliding door?
it should work (depending on the van the windows came from as early busses had bigger middle windows than late ones) with no worries if you have all the associated bits.
what are you doing with the other double glazed windows?? im looking for some for my westy depending on what tint they are.......

Cheers Jason, that's reassuring! Those were my thoughts, but I thought I'd post before I spent some time measuring up etc only to hear that there wouldn't be enough room for the sliding door to open or something similarly stupid!
I'll be fitting the tailgate window and plan to keep the two middle side ones (fixed and opening) in case the opening one doesn't work out for some reason, but the two rear side windows are available. I've been waiting to find out what they're worth (and to have time to breathe!) before putting them up for sale but give me a shout with an offer if they'd be any good to you. Pretty good condition (light scratching only) from memory...

Oops, forgot the bit you asked about... They're brown tint and from a late van (I think that only affects the middle side windows though doesn't it?)

I thought it was the earlier vans that had smaller windows? May have got that wrong but if no good for JasonK I would be interested in buying the rear ones and converting mine to double glazed all round eventually.

Anyone else got anything to say on this topic? I guess no one's bothered doing it, cos if you've got a factory window bus you can just have the opening window on the other side!
